Last summer I went to Vegas and I went
to an art gallery that had these amazing paintings
of a girl with gorgeous makeup, they were so
gorgeous that I took pictures because I wanted to create
a look inspired by it. I had totally forgotten about the
pictures until I found them this weekend
and had to do a look!
I have various different pictures of the many paintings
and I might do a couple more looks inspired by them,
but I am not sure yet...
Hope you enjoy!

Yesterday I posted my Epic Beauty Haul,
(if you haven't check it out then you can do so by clicking HERE)
and I wanted to share a shopping experience that I
had with the employees of Chanel in my local Macy's
I live in the small town of Bakersfield in California, and unfortunately
we only have one Macy's in town, yes you heard correct.
ONE. MACYS. IN. TOWN. !
I have never had a horrible experience with makeup counters,
besides when MAC is packed and it is hard to get a pro artist
to help you... Philospohy, Clinique, and Lancome employees have
always been helpful and nice!
But Chanel was a different story... I walked into
Macy's knowing exactly what I wanted:
Soleil Tan Bronzing Makeup Base.
It is the most amazing bronzer I have seen and being new
to Chanel products I wanted to try out something I know
I would use. It is seriously out of this world, the consistency
is like a mousse and it blends like no ones business! ha ha...
But onto the disaster, there was only one employee working
the Chanel counter, it was a man around his early 20's.
He was working with a client and matching her foundation
so I figured I would help myself and try out the bronzer myself.
I was just swatching it on my hand when he turned around and
look me up and down and said
"Uhm excuse me" and basically shoved me out of the way
to get an applicator, so I was like okay no biggie he
just needed the stupid sponge.
But then he crossed the line!
He said "I don't think you would be interested in that product."
I said, "Why is that?" I thought maybe he was going to
say it was an awful bronzer or something but no
He said, "It costs over fifty dollars."
I seriously felt like I was in the movie Pretty Woman.
Who was he to say that I couldn't pay 50 or even 100 dollars
for the product I want.
The customer he was working on said,
"Wow you are really rude." and got up and left.
So not only did he lose 1 customer, he lost 2.
Have you had experiences like this? I honestly feel
that sometimes having an ethnic background or being
young of age can make people discriminate you even more.
Their loss, not mine.

I was inspired to take a shot at the
sunset inspired look because every time I see
a look like this I fall in love.
When I used to live in San Diego going to
the beach and watching the sun go down
was my favorite thing to do. And I miss it
so much! Sunset's are probably my favorite
part of the day, the sky looks so warm & beautiful.
I used purples, pinks, oranges, and yellows.
And I also added a touch of blue just because
of the blue ocean.

I recently re-designed the whole look on my blog,
and considering that I sort of suck at tech stuff
and left my "web design" days back with MySpace, I think
I did a decent job ha ha! I wanted to keep it cute & simple.
Personally, I love simple blog layouts that aren't too "loud".
They are just easier to read and look at.
I might change the banner again because I think
the font color might be too light... Let me
know if it is too light of a pink or if it is ok!
I wanted to share with you a very helpful site
that offers free banners, buttons, and other
cute things. And the girls that run it are so
S W E E T!
For some reason I could not center my banner
and they helped me do it!
The site is:
If you are looking to amp up your page
I definitely recommend this site!
I am also going to start watermarking my pictures
& I want to create a signature to sign off my posts ..
Hope your weekend was lovely!
Here is a few pictures of inspiration!
|PASTRY LIPSTICKS? YUM!|
My sister visited me during the weekend and
showed me the Smashbox Photo Op Palette
that she bought through QVC a couple of weeks ago.
I wanted to play around with it and see if the
$95.00 you pay is worth it.
Honestly, I was really disappointed at the quality of
the eyeshadows, considering Smashbox is a great
cosmetic company. Many of you may already know, but
palettes are usually 1/3 of the quality of regular products.
The palette includes:
Fifty-Six .44 oz Eye Shadows
Four .032 oz Brow Tech Powders
One .024 oz Brow Tech Wax
Eight .031 oz Cream Eye Liners
Two .298 oz Blushes
Three .132 oz Soft Lights
Four .024 oz Lip Glosses
It is made in the USA
|PICTURE COURTESY OF QVC, I DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO TAKE PICS!|
The palette includes all of the Smashbox trios plus
other colors taken from other palettes.
It comes with a clear film over the palette
that includes the name of each of the products.
The shadows range from frost, satin, matte, and shimmer.
Four of the liners have slight shimmer but it is barely noticeable.
There is also a hot pink blush and a coral one.
And the soft lights are forms of highlighters.
My thoughts are very mixed. I feel that this palette is versatile.
The eyeshadows were held up to very high standards, and
unfortunately they did not meet them. They are powdery and messy.
And after wearing them for only 2 hours they had basically erased!
What I mean by that is that they do not last on my lids, even though
I applied primer! This is a first for me, it doesn't even happen with ELF Shadows!
I also feel that the choice of blushes they offer is not universal, they
should have included a softer pink and/or a bronzer. Three highlighters seem
like a bit much considering eyeshadows could double
as highlighters. The cream liners are ok but like I said about
the eyeshadows... NOT DURABLE! They disappeared soon after applying.
My favorite part of the palette is definitely the brow powders, brow wax, and
the liglosses. The brow powders are pigmented and the color choices are
great. And the brow wax is amazing! The lip glosses are pigmented
and not sticky. But these few products are not enough initiative
to actually purchase the palette.
Packaging: 3/5 (not easy to travel with since when you open it, it is quite big)

I ordered two things from Signature Minerals
and I would love to share them with you. I love this
brand and all of the products I have tried are amazing.
If you haven't tried them out I definitely recommend them,
they have a sample system where you pick 6 samples
and only pay shipping! This is a great way to check out
products before buying them.
The eye shadows come in sample bags and the
foundations and blushes come in little sifter jars.
They give you a fair amount of product, the eye shadow
baggies have lasted me ages!
This is my recent order but if you want to see all
my Signature Minerals swatches please let me know
by commenting down below.
Purple Rain 10 gram
Keri Lip Butter 5.7 grams
Princess Bronzer (sample)
Top: Indigo, Soft Brown
Bottom: Turquoise, Nyx, and Cream
TOP ROW: Purple Rain, Princess Bronzer, and Keri Lip Butter.
MIDDLE ROW: Turquoise, Nyx, and Cream.
LAST ROW: Soft Brown and Indigo
Nyx is the most gorgeous color ever, it is a duo chrome color. It reminds me of MAC's Blue Brown pigment!
Cream is also very pretty, it is the perfect highlight shade.
Quick look, I used Purple Rain, Indigo, and Cream.

I have finally gotten around to doing a look
with my awesome Peacock Lashes from PaperSelf
It was a spur of the moment thing, and it came out decent..
Of course I will be doing at least two more looks with these lashes..
I already have some ideas rolling around in my mind!
The lips and lashes are the attention grabbers of this look,
to achieve my lips I mixed my Signature Minerals loos eye shadow in Purple Rain
with clear lip gloss, in the center I dabbed a bit of Sugarpill's Magentric loose eye shadow.
The eyes was just a nude color and a brown color to cut the crease (nothing fancy)
The eyeliner is NYX's Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean.
And of course the lashes are from Paperself.
They seem to be made out of some sturdy type of canvas paper and are meant to be used only once.
The packaging is quite luxurious and beautiful, they come in a cream colored box. On the outside there
is a flap you can open to look inside and see your lashes. And the lashes themselves come inside a slide out box. The lashes are quite long and I had to trim them, but I don't feel as if it is going to waste because I could use the little pieces for outer corner details. They were a but harder to put on then regular lashes because the lash glue weighs them down and they won't stay steady, they are also extremely delicate. A little tug somewhere and they might rip. They do not feel any heavier then regular lashes and are really easy to move around and position to the right place.
All in all, I love them and will definitely repurchase other designs.
Price: 5/5 (although some are pricier)
Packaging, Innovation, and Application: 10/10
Overall: A+ :)
Hope you enjoyed my review, let me know if you
have any questions!
